Oil/canvas, 61 x 50,5 cm, lo. ri. sign. and dat. Spars 31, unframed. - German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist. He was taught by A. Illies at the Hamburger Kunstgewerbeschule in 1923 and worked as freelancer. With a scholarship he could continue his studies in Paris in 1930/31. He was mobbed by the Nazis and worked in Italy in 1936. He was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz in 1957 and the Edwin-Scharff-Preis in 1960. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle), Hannover, Kiel, Bonn u.a.
