As a buyer, Auktionshaus Stahl offers you an auction programme selected according to high quality standards. Choose from the variety of works of art, antiques, watches and jewellery curated for you by our experts. Our print catalogues, magazines and online catalogues, which are presented daily on our website and various international internet platforms, give you a comprehensive overview. There are many ways to buy art and antiques: bid in the hall, by bidding via our website, on the phone or as a live online bidder.
Auktionshaus Stahl holds up to five major auctions a year in Hamburg, to which we cordially invite you. There are various ways to participate and bid at our art auctions.
In the following we inform you about the possibilities of bidding and how the auctions at Auktionshaus Stahl take place on site in Hamburg, by telephone or online.
PARTICIPATION IN THE AUCTION
You have the following options for participating in an auction:
BIDDERS IN THE AUCTION HALL | You attend the art auction in person and bid in the hall on site. Registration also takes place on site, where you will receive your bidder number.
|
---|---|
ABSENTEE BIDS | You leave a written bid and indicate the maximum amount you wish to bid for a lot. The auctioneer will take care of the bids on your behalf, i.e. the winning bid will be as low as possible.
|
ONLINE | In our online catalogues you can enter your bid directly under the respective lot.
|
MAIL, FAX OR EMAIL | Bid forms in the print or online catalogue / magazine can be sent to us by mail, fax or email (scan of the form). Attention: Please note the bid deadline of 24 hours (48 hours for new customers) before the auction starts.
|
TELEPHONE BIDS | As a telephone bidder, we will call you during the auction for the lots you wish to bid on. Please let us know on the bid form which lots you would like to bid on and on which telephone number you can be reached on the day of the auction. Telephone bidding is possible for lots with a catalogue price of 500 Euro or more. By placing a telephone bid you automatically bid the catalogue price of the respective lot. This is a mandatory requirement for telephone bidding. We will make every effort to call you in good time before calling the desired object, but cannot guarantee that the telephone connection will be established. In all cases, you may submit a written security bid. Attention: Please note the bidding deadline of 24 hours (48 hours for new customers) before the auction starts.
|
ONLINE LIVE BIDDING | You register for live bidding and participate in the auction in real time via the Internet. In addition to the possibilities of written pre-bids and participation in the auction as a telephone bidder, you now have the possibility to participate directly online in the auctions at Auktionshaus Stahl via our website as a live bidder. Please note that an additional fee of 3% on the total sum will be charged for live bidding on the internet. For more information, please contact us.

PROCEDURE OF THE AUCTION
Lots are called at the reserve price stated in the catalogue. The auctioneer calls the lots one after the other and takes bids from the room bidders, the telephone bidders and the bidders on the internet. As a rule, bids are raised in increments of about 10% (rounded up or down). The bidder with the highest bid is awarded a lot. The results are published on the internet after the auction.
REGISTRATION | As a new customer you can register on our website. In the catalogue you can then place bids directly on the relevant object using the attached form and send it to us as an email. We will then send you a confirmation and ask you to submit further information such as a copy of a photo ID (identity card / passport). New customers participating as hall bidders are requested to prove their identity with their identity card when the bidder number is issued and, if necessary, to deposit their credit card number or a cash deposit as security. We must reserve the right to sufficient security for the execution of the purchase order. Please note the bidding deadline for new customers of 48 hours before the auction begins. The terms and conditions of business and auction can be found under GTC.

COLLECTION
The auctioned artworks can be collected personally during our business hours:
- Monday - Friday: 10 am to 6 pm
Graumannsweg 54
22087 Hamburg
Please inform us in good time about your collection so that we can prepare it for you.
SHIPPING AND TRANSPORT
The purchased objects are always to be collected by the buyer from our business premises and will be ready for collection after full payment has been received.
If a personal collection is not possible for you, we will be happy to make suggestions for modes of transport that you can commission. The mode of shipment depends on the artworks and your preferences - especially regarding insurance.
The shipment of the artworks you have purchased is generally possible by art forwarding agent, transporter, courier service or by one of the well-known logistics companies. Should you have already expressed the wish to commission shipping in advance, you will find a suggestion for a suitable shipping method on the auction invoice.
For larger paintings, sculptures and graphics framed under glass as well as fragile works of art, we recommend transport by a carrier. We will be happy to assist you in choosing a competent forwarding agent or an inexpensive collective transport. The transport costs will be charged to you directly by the forwarding agent.
The shipping order is placed either directly by you or on your behalf. The costs and risk of shipping are at your expense.
Customs clearance for a third country is carried out by a forwarding agent or a shipping company. In the case of personal collection, the buyer will be responsible for customs clearance when the goods leave the EU.
Items that have not been collected within three weeks of the invoice date and for which no shipping order has been received will be stored at the buyer's expense.
If you have any questions regarding shipping, our shipping department will be happy to assist you:
