W. studied art history and worked in the textile industry, but was also active as an artist. 1969-92 he was a professor at the HfBK in Hamburg. His works live from effects and illusions, which arise from the overlapping of lines. Together with his wife he founded the Foundation for Concrete Art and Design in Ingolstadt.
