Christmas card 1990, ink, pen and animal blood (?), artistically designed, with imprint of his left hand, on a folded card with illustration of a work by Paul Gauguin, in unfolded state approx. 17.4 x 25.5 cm, designed envelope. - US-American photographer. B. studied 1958-61 at Yale university, among others under the emigrated Bauhaus artist Josef Albers. In 1955 he travelled Africa for the first time. In 1961 he moved to Kenia, where he made friends and collaborated with Karen Blixen. The endangered species of East Africa are the main subjects of his photos. B. enriches them with collages, drawings and even blood, often in cooperation with local artists. He also made movies and worked as an actor. Mus.: New York (MoMA), Tokyo, Arles a. others.
