Probably 1953, Ektachrome, 12,5 x 10 cm, in slip case with studio stamp Bruno Bernard, unframed. - Provenance: Gift of the artist to the consignor 1982. - German-American photographer. B. studied criminal psychology in Kiel until 1934. He recognized the danger posed by the National Socialists to Jews and emigrated to the USA in 1937. He first studied in Berkeley and then worked at Max Reinhardt's theatre academy. He opened a photography studio in Los Angeles and developed further the pin up style. B. was the first photographer to capture Marilyn Monroe; his shot 'Marilyn in White' with her skirt flying high is one of the most famous photos of the 20th century.
