Vienna, c. 1880. Rock crystal, silver, partly gilt and enamelled. Curved, recessed and fan-shaped plate on a round foot. Elaborately engraved segments with splendid Renaissance decoration in rock crystal. Between them in polychrome enamel acanthus bands with foiled glass stones, on the rim mascarons and openwork grotesque handles. Marks Vienna official hallmark (Rosenberg IV, 7867), maker's mark.: HB (Neuwirth, 1976, vol. I, p. 60, no. 12, p. 116). H. 4.5 cm, diam. 26.5 cm. - Hermann Böhm (gold and silverware factory, founded in 1866) was one of the most famous Viennese manufacturers of precious gold and silverware with semi-precious stones and enamel in the late 19th century, along with Hermann Ratzersdorfer. - Provenance: Private property Hamburg. - In the late 19th cent., along with Hermann Ratzersdorfer, one of the most famous Viennese manufacturers of precious gold and silverware with semi-precious stones and enamel.
