Spars, on the reverse titled and artist's adress, on the stretcher exhibition label of Haus der Kunst Munich. - Exhibition: Große Kunstausstellung, Haus der Kunst München, 7.6.-15.9.1957, cat. no. 772. - German painter, draughtsman and graphic artist. He was taught by A. Illies at the Hamburger Kunstgewerbeschule in 1923 and worked as freelancer. With a scholarship he could continue his studies in Paris in 1930/31. He was mobbed by the Nazis and worked in Italy in 1936. He was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz in 1957 and the Edwin-Scharff-Preis in 1960. Mus.: Hamburg (Kunsthalle), Hannover, Kiel, Bonn u.a.
