France, probably Paris. around 1840. Ovoid body on an indented round base over a square plinth, cylindrical neck, handles on the sides in the form of winged caryatid herms, in matt gilding. In gold etched reserve on the front and back fine coastal landscapes with figural staffage in the style of Joseph Vernet as well as a depiction of a seated muse with Cupid, in front of a landscape background. Fine etched gold decoration of palmettes and onrnamental bands. Porcelain, colourfully painted, partially gilded. H. 50 cm. Signed 'C. Parmentier'. Min. chipped. -
