1903. Tempera, 35,5 x 59,5 cm, lo. le. sign. L. Dill, lo. ri. dat. Dachau 1903, framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - German landscape painter. D. began studying architecture in Stuttgart in 1869, but studied painting in Munich from 1872. There he worked with G. Schönleber, J. Wenglein and H. Baisch in the countryside surrounding the city. Later he repeatedly traveled to Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In 1894 he followed A. Hölzel to Dachau. In 1892 D. was one of the co-founders of the Munich Secession, of which he was president until 1899. He then accepted a professorship in Karlsruhe, where he taught until 1919.
