With the prize money from a talent competition, Plückebaum was able to finance his studies at the Düsseldorf Academy under E. von Gebhardt and J. P. Th. Janssen. In 1910 he went on a trip to Italy together with W. Ophey. P.'s motifs are often friendly-humoristic, his specialty were depictions of children. Lit.: Thieme-Becker.
