Oil/canvas. 48 x 60 cm. Lo. le. sign. S. Wencke. Very inconspicuous rest. - German landscape paintress. After studying in Dresden and Berlin under W. Hamacher a. M. Uth she settled in Worpswede in 1898, where she became pupil of O. Modersohn. She had numerous exhibitions together with him, F. Overbeck and H. Vogeler all over Germany. 1916-19 she designed motifs for the Hutschenreuther porcellain factory. he married in 1919 and moved to Hamburg.
