KPM Berlin. Around 1949, designed around 1940. White porcelain. H. 41,5 cm, w. ca. 51 cm. Sceptre mark, year mark 'tau' (1949) with month mark of July, former mark 'star'. Min. chip to the helmet and the plinth. Hippocamp rearing up on a wave, Telchin, the king of Sikyon, riding on it. - The group belongs to the large centerpiece 'Birth of Beauty'. - Literature: Comp. E. Köllmann, Berliner Porzellan 1763-1963, Braunschweig 1966. To the centrepiece cf. Vol.I, p. 153f. To the model cf. Vol.II, plate 290b. - German graphic artist, sculptor and one of the most popular porcelain sculptors of the first half of the 20th cent. After his studies at the Berlin Academy he designed numerous models for Hutschenreuther, the Schwarzburger Werkstätten, Nymphenburg, KPM Berlin and Meissen (111 models).
