1916. Oil/wood. 20,5 x 29 cm. Lo. ri. cyrillic sign. and dat. K. Gorbatov 1916, on the reverse titled. - Postimpressionist Russian landscape painter and member of the Peredvishniki artist's group. G. began his professional training in 1891 at the Samara academy under F. E. Burov but moved to Riga and St. Petersburg to continue his studies under N. N. Dubovskoij. In 1912/13 he went to Italy with a scholarship of the academy. In 1924 he emigrated to Italy before settling definitively in Berlin in 1928.
