1914/15. Oil/cardboard. 68,5 x 49 cm. Lo. ri. sign. and dat. 1330 (1914/15), on the reverse label and inscription of the family of August Ritter von Kral. The motif of this painting was circulated on a postcard by the Touring and Automobile Club of Turkey. - Provenance: Since 1926 in the possession of August Ritter von Kral (1869-1953), Austrian ambassador in Turkey 1924-32, who according to tradition received the painting as a present from Atatürk; by descent in von Krals family until 2021; then sold to a private collector in South Germany - Turkish painter. A. first attended the naval school in Heybeliada and entered the Istanbul art school in 1905. With the help of a scholarship, A. was able to continue his studies 1910-14 at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris under F. Cormon. Later he became a professor at the Istanbul Academy.
