Oil/canvas. 97 x 68,5 cm. Lo. ri. sign. and dat. W. Hasemann Karlsruhe 1883, on the stretcher label 'Michael Richart, Bürgermeister in Waldolwisheim'. Zustand Min. rest. Relined. - Provenance: Private collection Hamburg - German figure and landscape painter. H. began his studies in 1868 at the Berlin Academy, went to Weimar in 1873, and finally to Munich on the recommendation of Adolph von Menzel. He then settled in Gutach in the Black Forest and in Karlsruhe. The rural life of the Black Forest became the dominant theme of his oeuvre and helped him gain popularity as far away as the United States.
