M. studied 1925-29 at the Gewerbeschule in Basel, 1927 he was also a student of Otto Dix Karl and Hofer. However, the art of Paul Gauguin had a decisive influence on his life. Under its impression M. emigrated in 1932 Tahiti, shortly thereafter to Bali, where he lived until 1950, before moving to Thailand. Mus.: Sydney.
