Early 20th cent. Bronze, dark patinated, on octagonal stone base. H. 25,5 cm x w. 22 cm x d. 12 cm. On the top of the plinth signed: W. ZÜGEL MUNICH, foundry stamp: GUSS v.A. BRANDSTETTER MUNICH. Zustand Min. traces of oxidation, stone base min. chipped. A larger example was exhibited at the Munich Secession Art Exhibition in 1906 and is in the collection of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich - Animal sculptor, son of the Munich painter Heinrich von Zügel, studied at the Munich Art Academy since 1900, since 1903 autodidact in the field of sculpture, since 1910 member of the Münchner Secession, 1926 appointed as professor of Fine Arts in Munich.
