R. studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg under W. Büttner and subsequently worked as an assistant to Albert Oehlen. He was a professor in Berlin until 2006, since then in Vienna. R.'s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo shows at the Kunsthalle zu Kiel, the National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa, the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, as well as at Denver Art Museum amonst others. In 2014, the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt held a retrospective of his work. Mus.: New York (MoMA), Frankfurt (Städel), Hamburg (Kunsthalle) a. others.
