Lot-No. 329
Proceeds : 9.500 €
1974. Bronze, brown patinated. H. 27 x w. 40 x d. 21 cm. Foundry stamp: Schmäke Düsseldorf. One of 2 casts. In the composition of the 7 horses standing side by side with only 11 front legs and 13 hind legs, the artist hid a game with the prime numbers by using the '7' for the heads/bodies, the '11' for the front legs and the '13' for the hind legs. The addition of the 3 prime numbers gives the prime number '31'. - Literature: Cat. Rais. Tiedge 96 ((here referred to differently as Noack cast). The present casting was a gift from the artist to the Hamburgische Landesbank - German sculptor, studied after theological studies at the Art Academy in Munich by Prof. Hiller and at the HFBK in Hamburg by E. Scharff. Since 1967 freelance artist in Jersbek near Bargteheide, especially working in wood, stone, bronze and steel, including numerous orders for public buildings, so-called 'Art on the building'. Lit.: Cat rais. Gisela Tiedge: Das Werk von Georg Ernst. Kunst am Bau und im öffentlichen Raum. Bonn 2015.
