Obviously academically trained and schooled by masters such as Lawrence Alma-Tadema, his specialty were richly furnished and meticulously painted scenes from the life of the ancient Roman upper class. Again and again one sees elegant ladies in richly appointed and lavish interiors consuming luxury, sometimes even with erotic allusions.
