Madoura workshop. 1948. Clay, engobed, with pink, white, blue, green, brown and black decoration, partly oxidised; the neck painted and glazed on the inside. H. 33,5 cm. Embossed on the bottom: MADOURA PLEIN FEU and EDITION PICASSO as well as incised: EDITION PICASSO; copy no.:19/175 as well as MADOURA. Good condition, mouth rim with some prof. rest. Picasso's long and productive collaboration with the Madoura manufactory and its owners Suzanne and Georges Ramié began during a visit to Vallauris in 1946. The ceramics ranged from vases, sculptures and plaques to a complete dinner service. Over 24 years, more than 633 pieces were produced in limited editions, all stamped with the Madoura stamp - Expertise: Ramié 50 - Universal genius, one of the most important artists in the history of art, who made groundbreaking achievements in almost all artistic genres, in the most important collections of the whole world. P. studied from 1885 at the academies of Barcelona and Madrid. In the first years of the 20th century Picasso succeeded after difficult beginnings to establish himself in the art metropolis Paris.
