China. Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534). Pottery, traces of white, black, red, brown and orange pigment. H. 30 cm, w. 20 cm. Small additions of red pigment. The finely modelled horse stands on a rectangular plinth, with a small slender head, pointed ears and gracefully arched neck, a tasselled strap stretches across the chest, the saddle consists of a flared cloth with fringes. - Expertise: Thermoluminescence Report from Laboratory Ralf Kotalla (13.04.22); Certificate of Authenticity from Becker Antiques, Amsterdam (15.08.22) - Provenance: Walter Verhagen Collection; Becker Antiques, Amsterdam; acquired there by the present owner. -
