Balkenhol 04, framed under glass, unopened. - Balkenhol is one of the most important and popular sculptors of the present, 1976-1982 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg with Ulrich Rückriem, then he was a teacher at the Städelsches Kunstinstitut in Frankfurt, since 1992 is B. Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. The human being is at the center of his work; roughly worked and colorfully painted wooden sculptures are characteristic of his work: 'My sculptures do not tell stories. Something mysterious is hidden in them. It is not my task to reveal it, but that of the viewer to discover it' (Balkenhol). For the public space B. created numerous works at home and abroad.
