Rügen-Impressionen, Ausst.-Kat. Gemälde-Galerie Kiel, 1990, no. 65 - German landscape painter. D. completed an apprenticeship as a mechanic and studied engineering. Until 1908 he worked as a vocational school teacher in Berlin and then took up studies at the Hochschule der Künste with A. von Werner, among others. He then continued to work in technical professions, but intensified his painting activities. He undertook numerous journeys.
