The international congress of Dadaists and Constructivists in Weimar on September 25 and 26, 1922, was a climax of the disputes between the two art movements, at which the Consturctivists ultimately prevailed. The invitation card designed by Doesburg for this important event in the art history of the Weimar Republic comes from the personal possession of Hans Arp. - Provenance: From the property of Hans Arp; thence by descent. - Dutch avant-garde artist and art theorist, one of the pioneers of abstract painting, Dada and Concrete Art. D. studied painting and taught at the Weimar Bauhaus in 1921/22. Already in 1917 he had founded the artist movement 'De Stijl' with Piet Mondrian and others.
