Designed around 1950, made 1988. Portugal marble. group: H. 78 cm, grey painted wooden base: H. 42 cm. Schumann realized the theme 'Mother and Child' in various materials and sizes since 1950. The group is based on a closed overall concept, which the artist himself called 'Eiform' or 'Urform'. - Large-format Ex. in the Public Space in Hamburg (Hausbruch) or in the park of the NordArt in Büdelsdorf. - Literature: Karrer, Siegfried. Pierre Schumann, Skulpturen in Marmor und Bronze. Salzburg, 2003, p. 72/73 (mit ill. of similar copies) - Provenance: Special production 1988 for a private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia - German sculptor. Trained at the Hochschule f. Bildende Künste Hamburg under E. Scharff and at the Stuttgart Academy under O. Baum, 1954-1964 he stayed in Paris. Since 1955 he worked as a freelance artist in Hamburg in his studio at Lerchenfeld, 1974 he moved to Sagau-Kassedorf near Eutin, since 1964 he had another studio in Carrara. - Schumann created sculptures and wall designs, his preferred material was marble.
