K. studied painting at the Hochschule für Graphik und Buchkunst in Leipzig from 1983-88, most recently as a master student of Bernhard Heisig. Immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he was able to establish himself in the West. For several years K. taught at the University of Leipzig. The artist, who continues the tradition of his master in a lively way, lives and works near Leipzig. His motifs, often applied very impasto with brush or palette knife, seem to come alive out of the surface. Mus.: Dresden (Staatl. Kunstsammlungen), Nuremberg (Germ.
