1988. Oil/fibre board. 89,5 x 25,5 cm. Lo. ri. sign. and dat. Joh. Heisig 88, on the reverse titled. - German painter, son of Bernhard Heisig. H. studied 1973-77 at the Hochschule für Graphik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, then he was a master student of Gerhard Kettner at the Hochschule der Künste Dresden until 1980. There he became professor in 1988 and already in 1989 rector. Since 1991 H. has been working as a freelance artist in Dresden and Berlin. He took on teaching assignments abroad and was once again professor in Dortmund in 1993. His interest in German history earned him a commission in 2003 to paint a portrait of Willy Brandt for the German Historical Institute in Washington. The artist lives and works in rural Brandenburg. Mus.: London (Brit. Mus.), Stuttgart (Staatsgal.), Moscow (Pushkin Mus.) a. others.
