Copenhagen. Designed 1915, made 1925-32. Sterling silver, marked GJ 925 S, DENMARK, Georg Jensen manufactory mark, MM: JR, design no. 45, French import mark. Fluted wall in the lower third, light hammered decoration, moulded wooden handle. H. 23.5 cm, weight approx. 520 g - Literature: Taylor/Laskey, p. 69, fig. 7 (here as water pitcher); Drucker, p. 242 - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
