Designed 1976, made after 1992. Bronze, brown-green patinated. H. 112 cm. Sign. Schumann, foundry stamp WITTKAMP ELMENHORST. Schumann had already realised the motif of the lovers in 1976 in a smaller version in bronze, and further versions exist in various sizes and types of marble. The present bronze emerged from a group of figures in Carrara marble that Schumann created in 1990 - Literature: Karrer, Siegfried. Pierre Schumann, Skulpturen in Marmor und Bronze. Salzburg, 2003, p. 140, fig. 74 - German sculptor. Trained at the Hochschule f. Bildende Künste Hamburg under E. Scharff and at the Stuttgart Academy under O. Baum, 1954-1964 he stayed in Paris. Since 1955 he worked as a freelance artist in Hamburg in his studio at Lerchenfeld, 1974 he moved to Sagau-Kassedorf near Eutin, since 1964 he had another studio in Carrara. - Schumann created sculptures and wall designs, his preferred material was marble.
