Oil/canvas. 57 x 81,5 cm. Lo. ri. sign. Ludwig Dettmann. Small rest. - Landscape, portrait, genre and flower painter, one of the pioneers of impressionism in Germany. D. tudied 1894-97 at the Hamburg school of applied arts, thereafter at the Berlin Academy under E. Bracht, F. Skarbina and A. von Werner. In 1900 he became head of the Königsberg Academy, together with M. Liebermann and W. Leistikow he was one of the co-founders of the Berlin secession in 1898. Mus.: Berlin (Nat.
