1987. Bronze. H. 77 cm. Sign., numbered copy 6/7, foundry mark SCHMÄKE DÜSSELDORF. Four-part stele-like sculpture from the 'Erhaben' series in the artist's very own archaic formal language - erman sculptor and draughtsman. Studied 1970-71 at the Kunsthoschule in Kassel. Teaching position 1976-78 at the art academy in Düsseldorf. He created his first artistic works from natural materials such as earth. He later worked with plaster and bronze. He added drawings in the mid-1970s and works on paper from the 1980s onwards. In his works, he reflects the impressions of foreign cultures from his travels and allows this to flow into his abstract visual language. Participates in Dokumenta 5 and 7 in Kassel.
