Tempera. 49 x 38,5 cm. Up. le. sign. Leo Putz, framed under glass, uninspected out of fram.e. - Austrian painter. P. received his training from 1889 at the Munich Academy under Robert Poetzelberger and Gabriel von Hackl, after which he continued his studies at the Académie Julian in Paris. Through further lessons in Munich, this time with Paul Hoecker, P. joined the artists' group 'Scholle' and the magazine 'Jugend' in 1899; he was already a member of the Munich Secession in 1897. From 1929-35 he worked in South America, including as a professor in Rio de Janeiro. He evaded reprisals by the National Socialists by returning to Merano. Mus.: Munich (Bayr.
