France. Mid 18th cent. Precious wood, veneered, marble top. H. 87 x W. 103 x D. 53 cm. On the top side marked MONDON and M. Age-related damages. Cambered and curved body on a cut-out frame and slightly curved feet. Front with three drawers, the top one divided into two. Frieze decoration and 'en papillon'. Gilt bronze mounts and sabots. Marble top curved on three sides (later). - French ebenist with a studio in the Rue du Faubourg in Paris, specialised in chests of drawers 'en tombeau' Lit.: P.
