Attributed A. Rivenc & Co., Geneva. around 1870. H. 30cm, L. 82 cm, W. 39 cm. Case with symmetrical walnut rootwood veneer and ribbon inlays on an ebonised base, 2 carrying handles on the sides. The song 'The Carneval of Venice' can be recognised in the melodies. Cylinder playing on a steel comb underneath a glazed inner lid. Above the glass lid, a coloured drawing of Lake Geneva with a view of the Hotel de la Paix is inlaid into the wood. Serial number 15751 engraved in the lever/winding handle. Moving and singing bird can be seen in its nest through a round window on the front. Not matching music card from the Heller company with 6 titles. - Swiss music box manufacturer. In 1869, he took over the music box manufacture of Theodore Jean Greiner from Geneva and founded 'A. Rivenc & Co., Manufacturers'. The Geneva manufactory was internationally successful for the production of music boxes and music boxes, and was managed by Ami Rivenc from 1869 to 1874.
