Around 1900. Bronze, dark brown patinated, gold-coloured ball. Figure: H. 26 cm, marble base: H. 9,2 cm. Sign. Walter Schott fec., foundry mark: Akt. Ges. v. H. Gladenbeck & Sohn. Patina min. worn, marble base min. chipped. Small-scale version of the life-size model from 1897 - - A German sculptor and medallion maker, studied 1880 - 1883 at the Berlin Academy, created a number of designs for KPM Berlin, Rosenthal and the Schwarzburger Werkstätten. In 1897 Schott produced his most famous work, the female ball player, as a life-size bronze sculpture for the flower garden at the southern end of the Königsallee in Düsseldorf.
