Rare 7-piece figurine group from the Threepenny Opera, consisting of: bride and groom Mack the knive and Polly, priest and 3 guests on chairs. The creation of the porcelain group originated from a visit to the theatre by the artists' collective Peter Strang, Ludwig Zepner and Heinz Werner in Berlin in 1967. After a conversation with Helene Weigel about the performance of Berthold Brecht's ‘Threepenny Opera’ and his enthusiasm for pewter figures, the idea for a multi-figure group in a stage-like composition was created. The sculptural design with expressive faces was created by S. and the colourful decoration by W. in reference to the premier in the 1920s. - Literature: Fig.: Exh. Cat. Meissener Konturen. Leipzig, 1992, p. 106f. -
