Fontana Arte, Italy. Designed 1967, made probably 1990s. Fluted pressed glass, nickel-plated brass metal elements. H. 184 cm. The shape of the floor lamp is based on Ponti's most famous architectural design - the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan - Italian architect and designer who studied architecture until 1921 at the Milan Polytechnic, where he later received a professorship and taught from 1936 to 1961, in 1923 he became artistic director of the porcelain manufacturer Richard Ginori (until 1930), after the second world war Ponti gave new impetus to the Italian design, from 1946 he startes working for Venini, metalwork he designed for Christofle, Paris and Sabattini. In 1957 he designed his most famous furniture the 'Superleggera' chair.
