Relief depiction of Mary and Elizabeth sitting next to each other on a bench in intimate conversation - German sculptor, studied after an optician apprenticeship from 1927-30 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Richard Langer, 1935/36 Rome Prize and scholarship holder at the Villa Massimo, lived and worked in Darmstadt until his death, where he led the sculpture class at the Werkkunstschule from 1947-68. Schwarzbeck belonged to the Darmstadt Group and was a member of the Darmstadt Secession
