Copenhagen. Designed around 1925, made 1945-77. Sterling silver, marked DENMARK STERLING, manufactory mark GEORG JENSEN, design no. 305 B. 31 x 15 cm, weight approx. 580 g. On 4 feet, rectangular with indented corners, filigree openwork handles on the narrow sides. - Johan Gudmann Rohde (1856-1935), painter and designer, played an important role in the development of applied arts in Denmark and created furniture as well as several significant silver designs for Georg Jensen - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
