Copenhagen. Designed 1915, made 1945-77. Sterling silver, marked DENMARK STERLING, manufactory mark GEORG JENSEN, design no. 80 A/B. Slightly hammered surfaces, partly ebonized wooden handles and knobs. Jug: H. 17 cm, cream jug: H. 6 cm, sugar bowl: Dm. 9 cm. Weight approx. 800 g (incl. wooden handles and knobs) - Literature: Taylor/Laskey, p. 78 (here as 80B/C) - Danish silversmith, 1895-1901 Studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen, then worked in the studio of the Danish court jeweler Michelsen. In 1904 opening of his own studio in Copenhagen where Jensen first produced works in the Art Nouveau style. Soon after he founded the company Georg Jensen, which is famous for their designs in the functional style of the Danish industrial designs.
