England, sec. half 18th cent. Dial sign. "Henry Buxton", worked in Wolverhampton 1748 - 1775. Mahogany and rootwood veneered with exotic woods inlays of vases with putti, framed by foliage, in front pendulum bob. Case with glass on three sides. Brass dial with silver colouerd dial ring with roman and arab. numerals, iron hands, date aperture, small seconds, strike on full hour. Movement with 2 weights. Key. (Comp. Baillie).
