Dettmann März 88, on the stretcher old exhibition label of the Kunsthalle Bremen, min. tears at the margins. - Prov.: In a Rhineland private collection since the early 1930s. - The atmospheric painting from the early years of Dettmanns artistic career already show the artist - repeatedly awarded already as a student at the Berlin academy - at the peak of his skill. His impressionist works from the late 1880s a. the 1890 show him as an important painter of German impressionism, who few years later was also to become an official exponent of avantgarde art. - Landscape, portrait, genre a. flower painter, one of the pioneers of impressionism in Germany, studied 1894-97 at the Hamburg school of applied arts, thereafter at the Berlin Academy under E.
