Poppe Folkerts, on the reverse inscribed "Fischerschaluppe bei schönem Wetter Norderney" as well as dat. 38. - German marine a. landscape painter, began his training as pupil of H. Eschke in 1896, since 1897 a scholarship enabled him to study under C. Saltzmann, in 1902 he studied at the Berlin academy under F. Kallmorgen a. in 1903 he became master student of L. Dettmann, on recommandation of A.v. Werner he took part in sailing trips on training ships to the Mediterranean See in 1900 a. 1901, in 1906 he exhibited together with E. Nolde, H. Arp a. H.P.
