China, 19th cent. (Qing-dynasty 1644-1911). Black lacquered wooden body of the xiu dun-type with carved decoration. The seat on 5 legs in the shape of a ruyi-sceptre on a stand. In the seat a large deep relief with 2 female persons making music in a garden. All over decoration with meander, foliage and stylised flowers. Small losses of material in the surface. H. 47,5 cm.
