China, Kangxi-period (1662-1722). Porcelain with softly spotted red-greenish glaze. Compressed circular form. At the wall characteristic colouring, running from red to a greenish mushroom brown. Six-character Kangxi-mark. Diam. 12 cm. - These type of brushwashers once belonged to the celebrated "Eight Great Numbers" and were part of fine writing sets on the scholar"s desk.
