St. Petersburg, around 1897. Bright ornamental borders on a blue underground with sumptuous gold decoration. Manufactory mark and dated "1897". H. 7 cm. - The service was originally commissioned 1832-34 for the Winter Palais in St. Petersburg. The bright decoration resembles Gothic church windows. Tzar Nicolaus II. (1868-1918) commissioned additional pieces as further extensions to the original service.
