Ludwig Dettmann, on the stretcher on adress label of the artist titled "Die Treppe der alten Villa", framed under glass, uninspected out of frame. - It"s the stair of the Villa Falconieri near Frascati. It belonged to the German emperor and was used as guesthouse for artists and scientists. - Landscape, portrait, genre a. flower painter, one of the pioneers of impressionism in Germany, studied 1894-97 at the Hamburg school of applied arts, thereafter at the Berlin Academy under E. Bracht, F. Skarbina a. A.v. Werner, in 1900 he became head of the Königsberg Academy, together with M. Liebermann a. W.
