Around 1900. Bronze with dark patina, figure h. 16 cm, beige-coloured marmor base. H. 7,5 cm, 14 x 6 cm (min. Chips, traces of an old mounting), on the plinth sign. 'Rudolf Marcuse', mark 'Akt.-Ges. vorm. H. Gladenbeck u. Sohn'. - The sculpture is reproduced in: Berman, Bronzes Sculptors & Founders 1800-1930, p. 875). - Berliner sculptor, student of the Berlin art academy, created small sculptures mainly in bronze and porcelain (designs for KPM and Rosenthal) and also the monumentes of Moses Mendelsohn (Berlin) and Carl Hagenbeck (Stellingen). - Lit.: Thieme-Becker.
