China, 19th cent. (Qing-dynasty 1644-1911). Porcelain with shiny black glaze and gold decoration. At the front a large motif with a pair of phoenix birds among blossoming peony flowers and underneath a broad lambrequin border (partly worn). Six-character Kangxi mark. H. 26 cm.
